The major difference between the aforementioned serves is that in Slice serve you hit with an angle as if -> ' /' instead of '--' in a flat serve. This generates spin along the vertical axis.
In the kick serve you more or less hit the ball at the same angle as that of the flat serve but you think as if you are trying to generate top spin on the ball. Of course this doesn't transpire as one might think, but still it generates a spin component slightly different than the vertical spin needed in the slice serve.
- The slice serve causes skidding
- The kick serve increases the accuracy
- The flat serve need not have any spin component at all - even if it does, it's unintentional. The primary focus is on the speed, irrespective of whether the balls spins or not.
